Testimony of Sandie Adoueni-Katché

  • Can you introduce yourself in a few words ?

My name is Sandie Adoueni-Katché. I am 30 years old, I am Ivorian. I hold a degree in business law and I also hold a certificate in management of humanitarian projects.

I have always wanted to work in the field of environment and tourism. I am a lover of nature, plants and animals. I feel good in all places surrounded by nature, and especially water, which makes me a good swimmer without wanting to brag. I also like gardening, collecting mineral stones and travelling.

  • What motivated you to choose Train & Travel ? and how long have you been there ?

I got to know the association through a relative who told me about their commitment to women. So I went to do some research and I was seduced by their background.

The Association Train & Travel caught my attention because I found myself in her vision that links women and eco-tourism and these are the actions that Train & Travel posed in favor of women but especially in favor of the environment which pushed me to engage with them. I feel grateful for these ten wonderful months within Train & Travel as L&D Specialist and also as a volunteer guide.

  • How did your integration into the association go ?

When I arrived in the association, I was immediately well integrated thanks to Bénédicte (Founder) and Adriana (Project Manager), I must say that it is very pleasant to work and to be surrounded by women. I immediately felt in my place.

  • What has Train & Travel brought you personally and professionally ?

In terms of human relations, this experience was very enriching because I knew how to cultivate a good team spirit.

I have met and worked with great people; women of various origins with whom I shared the same values and objectives. I learned to work in this direction.

The training courses followed in-house allowed me to acquire the skills necessary for my professional growth.

With Bénédicte (Founder), during the implementation of projects. She helped me gain self-confidence because I was afraid to speak in public. She always pushed me and taught me to take initiatives.

I loved these moments of sharing and benevolence between us and I thank the whole Train & Travel team for this warmth but above all for allowing me to grow a little more by your side.

  • Did you encounter any difficulties ?

My biggest challenge was getting out of my comfort zone. I have already reached a milestone and I do not intend to stop there.

  • What is the best memory you have of your volunteer work at Train & Travel ?

Good memories, I have so many… But one of the most beautiful is the activity to raise awareness of urban plastic waste pollution followed by the cleaning of the Ebrié lagoon and the recycling of plastic bottles that we carried out during the implementation of the Acc project in the village of Blockhouse.

  • What are your plans after this experience ?

Initially, I intend to continue training by specializing in the field of the environment and I wish at the same time working in an organization with children, teaching them the importance of protecting the natural and cultural heritage that we have and instilling in them the values specific to this cause.

  • What advice would you give to someone who wants to volunteer at Train & Travel ?

If you feel you have something to give to others, do it.

Even if you don’t believe in yourself and think you don’t have the necessary skills… Get started.

And if you want to take up challenges, be a booster, learn and gain experience… At Train & Travel, you will not be disappointed.
