Testimonial from our former Development Manager Noémie Gendre

Noémie is a dynamic young woman with an overwhelming desire to help. This Ile-de-France resident has volunteered in several associations serving a variety of audiences: Resto du cœur, Relais bébé and retirement homes.

Dedicated and motivated, as part of her studies in town planning and tourism, she came to Côte d’Ivoire to discover other cultures and to be able to develop her skills with the Train & Travel team.

Due to the health crisis, his stay in Côte d’Ivoire was cut short. She had to do her 4 months of remote volunteering in France. Despite this, Noémie had a great experience within the association.

One of your assignments that you particularly enjoyed?

“I had the opportunity to write a training course on ‘Understanding ecotourism’ that I was able to co-host with Désirée Laure Koffi (L&D Specialist). This training was organized in the form of questions and answers to involve the participants, which made it possible to create a very interactive and lively training”

Noémie also provided training on guiding techniques to future guides from the Train & Travel association.

And the team?

“A top team, I had to work a lot with Alexandra Yepmo (Project Manager) and Bénédicte Joan (Project Coordinator) who, despite the distance, integrated me very well! Without forgetting, Désirée Laure Koffi, Ruth Ursula Toualy Tape and Marie-Ange Anézi Djié and all the members of the association with whom I was able to interact.”

Noémie was unable to physically meet the volunteers. Her integration took place at a distance when she returned to France: “Long live digital!”. The team’s solidarity and good humor put her at ease from the start and even if the latter was at a distance, the benevolence and the reactive presence of Alexandra Yepmo (Project Manager) and Bénédicte (Coordinator Project) was a great help.

What were you doing within Train & Travel?

“I was very versatile! My missions were as varied as they were pleasant!”

Noémie went from communication, to calls for projects, to training, to administration… Being a volunteer in the Train & Travel association is engaging, educational, pleasant, interesting and rewarding.

Frustrations?

“I am very disappointed not to have been able to stay there. Despite the strong presence of volunteers by camera, I would have liked to be in the field to get to know the beneficiaries and members of the association as well as to see what has been put in place. However, it was a pleasure to do my internship with such a great team whose actions are strong and committed.”
